Q: Can you estimate how many pix are in the collection? Just ballpark it. Also, I’m assuming whoever buys these has the right to scan these images and put them on the web, if they want to, right?
A: The web is fine, an underground graff magazine is fine, but if you tried to publish a book with a big publisher or even a small one, you would be out of luck. You would need a clearance from every photographer in this collection. Anything underground is fine, but if you started making “REAL MONEY” with them that would be a problem. Remember if you win this auction you own the physical copy’s of these photos..but you don’t own the copyrights. It’s just like bidding on rare books or vinyl, the book/vinyl would be yours but you wouldn’t have the rights to republish. I have know idea how many photos are in this collection, I just got on the scale with my bag of photos and subtracted my weight, I could weigh a pound of photo’s then count them to get a ruff estimate if that helps?….
“In 1988 I started a video magazine series called Videograf, the video came out a few times a year until about 1995. I went on to produce a few more graffiti videos series like Graf Core and Over Spray. Graffiti writers gave videograf productions pictures for over 20 years. I’m now putting the whole collection up for auction on ebay. This collection of photographs represents the 80’s and the 90’s wit a few shots from the 70’s. I don’t know how many photos are in the collection but is weights approximately 25 pounds. Approximately 60 percent of the collection is walls mostly from the 80’s & 90’s.
Approximately 40 percent of the photos in the collection are trains, including freights mostly but not all from new york city. Approximately 30 percent of the train photos are new york subway shots representing the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The wall and frieght photos come from every corner of the usa & world and mostly represent the 90’s.
This photo collection is ideal for someone wanting to start a graffiti themed website or publish a graffiti magazine. This auction is for serious collectors or publishers in need of content.” – Cameraman Carl
